History

If you grew up in the Raleigh area during the 50's and 60's , you probably recall the aroma of freshly baked bread filling the air as you traveled down Hillsborough Street. Or as a student, you may have enjoyed a field trip to the Royal building for a tour of the bread bakery.

In 1997, the Royal Bakery joined the National Register of Historic Places as part of Raleigh's unique and valuable history. Since the historic redevelopment of the Bakery in 2000, a variety of tenants now occupy over 28,000 sq. ft. of space.
